Title:QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
Location: Millersville, MD

Summary:
   Gould Technology LLC. (Gould Fiber Optics), a leader in the passive fiber optic product industry, is actively seeking to fill a QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER position for its main facility in Millersville, MD.

   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:
  • Establishes, maintains and enforces the Company's ISO-certified Quality System by preparing procedures and policies, and verifies its effectiveness by conducting periodic Internal Audits.
  • Provides training to personnel, as required, in the necessary Quality related disciplines of problem solving, task teams (Quality Circles), statistical process control (SPC/SQC), test methodology, equipment use and Total Quality Management (TQM).
  • Offers economically feasible solutions to Quality System nonconformities.
  • Develops, tracks and monitors the Quality Assurance Department's annual budget and goals/objectives.
  • Works toward ensuring the Company's profitability.
  • Provides customers with requested quality information as well as technical support.
  • Provides direction and maintenance of the Company's Document Control System.
  • Establishes, maintains and conducts the Company's test equipment calibration and preventive maintenance efforts.
  • Prepares/revises documents and drawings/specifications as necessary.
  • Provides suitable reports on the Quality System's performance.
  • Reviews agreements, and procurement, process, and sales procedures for compliance to Quality requirements.
  • Conducts supplier facility audits and surveys, and prepares related reports.
  • Participates in meetings with customers.
  • Prepares Nonconforming Device Analysis (NCDAs) for customers as they are requested.
  • Participates in cross-functional business meetings.
  • Maintains the Product Reliability Lab and performs and reports on product reliability tests.
  • Specifies, procures, sets up and trains personnel on necessary test equipment and software for the department and Company.
  • Reviews newly released products and processes to ensure they meet normal standards of quality for performance, design and manufacture.
  • Participates in industry standards organizations such as EIA/TIA, ASQC, etc.
  • Participates in the review and comments on new or revisions to industry test documents such as Telcordia.
Qualification requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

Language skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical skills:

Reasoning ability:

Other skills and ability:

  • Good understanding of fiber optic theory and application.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and computer programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to use mechanical and optical measuring equipment such as calipers, outside micrometers, pin & ring gauges, optical comparators, power meters, spectrum analyzers, thermal chambers/ovens, etc.

Computer skills:

  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to quickly learn other software and implement its use accordingly.

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in the Engineering Department.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees.

Title: SALES ENGINEER(S)

Summary:
   Gould Technology LLC. (Gould Fiber Optics), a leader in the passive fiber optic product industry, is actively seeking to fill two SALES ENGINEER positions - one based on the U.S. West Coast and the other based at its main facility in Millersville, MD, for servicing the U.S. East Coast and Europe.

   Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Exhibits a through knowledge of passive fiber optics components, especially Gould Fiber Optics product lines.
  • Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
  • Develops and delivers sales presentations to prospective customers.
  • Displays or demonstrates product, using samples or catalog, and emphasizes salable features.
  • Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares sales contracts for orders obtained.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of Gould’s production and delivery schedules.
  • Prepares reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Works with inside sales representatives to keep account activities and literature up to date.
  • Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries. Represent the company at trade shows to promote products.

Title: SHIPPING/RECEIVING CLERK:
Location: Millersville MD
Summary:
  • Full Time, Permanent position
  • Work hours: Monday - Friday, 8am-4:30pm.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen

Summary: Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Skills include the following:

  • Aids Production Scheduling in screening units for shipment by use of work orders daily.
  • Prepares units for shipment on a daily basis. This includes screening of customer purchase orders vs. company work orders for agreement, preparation of shipping invoices and/or packing lists, preparation of international export documentation, determines method of shipment and preparation of appropriate carrier's paperwork using established guidelines.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons. Assembles containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers.Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Routes items to respective departments.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.Operates handtruck or uses ladder to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.Other duties may be assigned as business activity necessitates.
